Reklameskilt for Tiedemanns Savoy sigaretter. Norsk Folkemuseum
The exhibition explores the tobacco industry and patterns of employment during periods of growth and decline, as well as how knowledge about tobacco has influenced tobacco policy, consumption, and public attitudes.
Attitudes toward tobacco have changed dramatically over the past century. Once considered a natural luxury and a symbol of status, growing awareness of the health risks of smoking has led to new legislation and a shift in public mindset. As tobacco policy evolved, public spaces and social interactions also changed in character.
