Christmas Preparations and Traditions

Welcome to an open guided tour of the open-air museum. We go back to a busy Christmas eve morning: in three different houses in the open air museum we look at different Christmas preparations, at different times, in the village and city, and in different social classes.

Guided Tour: Christmas Preparations and Traditions

Christmas is a celebration with a 1000-year history in Norway, though with many differences. What people ate, how they decorated, and the traditions surrounding Christmas have been through many changes from the Middle Ages up till today. Some traditions are recognizable, others may seem foreign.

The guided tour is included in the admission ticket and is held in Norwegian and English. Meeting point: The Square.
