As a “Tourist in Your Own City” you can explore the unique charm of Norsk Folkemuseums open-air museum for free with your Oslo Pass. Stroll through historic farmyards and urban neighborhoods from different parts of Norway, and discover a variety of engaging exhibitions that offer insight into everyday life and living conditions in Norway from the 1500s to the present day.

At the museum, you’ll also find the iconic Gol Stave Church as well as a cozy café where you can enjoy the spring atmosphere on Bygdøy.

Ticket reservations for "Tourist in Your Own City" opens on Thursday, March 27 at 12:00 PM.

Show your Oslo Pass at the Visitor Center to validate it and get free admission.

  • Open Barn: Visit pigs, rabbits, chickens, calves, and sheep. Meet our farm hosts in action and experience horses and ponies outdoors.
  • Traditional Lefse: Buy our traditional freshly baked lefse in Numedalstunet.
  • Blacksmith: Forge your own hook or try carving!
  • Grocery Store: Taste the past with old-fashioned candy served in paper cones.
  • A 19th-Century Farm: Step into farm life in 1800s Numedal at Grøsli.
  • A Farmer’s Wife: Meet Bjørg, a farmer’s wife in 1959, at Stiklestad.
  • A Working-Class Wife: Meet Agnes, a working-class woman in 1910, at Enerhugen.

Join a guided tour to explore two of our top attractions: the iconic Gol Stave Church and the beautiful Hovestua.

  • The tour is in Norwegian and English, every day at 12.00 and 14.00
  • Meeting at the Square

Discover both permanent and temporary exhibitions about the people, traditions, and everyday life in Norway from the 1500s to the present day. 

About “Tourist in Your Own City

“Tourist in Your Own City” is a collaboration between VisitOSLO, Ruter, and several of the city’s museums and attractions, inviting Oslo residents to experience the city from a tourist’s perspective.
