Love Trail in the Open-Air Museum

Walk the Love Trail through the museum’s parks and courtyards. Find information about the trail at the Square and follow the pink circles on the ground and the signs throughout the museum.

When: Self-guided, available every day during opening hours.

  • Silent love: Audio experience in Nedre-Jordet, Hallingdal
    Listen to "kveding" and gain insight into the love present in actions and in all the necessary things made for a life together at home.
  • Fanitullen: Audio experience at Bjørnebergstølen, Hallingdal
    Step into 19th-century farm wedding traditions, where fiddles, songs, and dancing filled three days of celebration.
  • Romantic atmosphere: Spelemannshaugen
    A small hidden gem to retreat to in the Open-Air Museum.
  • Sensory love: Flowers in the English and French Gardens
    Experience the blooming beauty of plants and flowers that have stirred love for generations at various locations along the Love Trail.
  • "Marry Me": A Yes-bench in the Linden Avenue in the French Garden
    Sit and enjoy the charming setting with someone you love. The perfect place for a proposal?
  • Love letters: In the Summer House in the English Garden
    The tradition of writing love letters is hundreds of years old. Pick up the pen and write your own love letter in inspiring surroundings.

On specific days:

At Enerhaugen you’ll meet Agnes Andersen: wife, homemaker, and mother of five. This walking theater connects past and present ideas of love, reflecting the world Agnes lives in.

The performance is included with the entrance ticket. 

Join us for a glimpse into 18th-century wedding fashion—complete with essential accessories, footwear, and hairstyles. An audience member will be dressed in an 18th-century gown and become the bride-to-be, Karen Chrystie.
